When is it? I can''t find any information about it on iD''s site. Or has it been release already. I want to but it for christmas for a few people, including my self.

Keep dreaming Odds are it won't be release for *at least* 6 months - and as far as I know there isnt even a provisional date set yet. My cynical guess would be next xmas probably..

Edit: This is the kind of mind-altering timelapse that happens when you're distracted before hitting 'post'

ID have stated that Doom3 will be released "definitely in 2003". I don''t know how "definite" that statement is, but I''d probably guess 2nd or 3rd quarter of 2003.

''When it''s done.'' Pfft. Famous last words. But we''re tlaking about Carmack here. So... ahhh... it will really be out ''when it''s done.''

Eh, probably won't be as long as most people think. After all, we're talking about John Carmack here, the same guy who brought his computer/work with him on his honeymoon.
Now that's dedication, or is it just plain insanity?

As for the honeymoon, that is just plain selfish.
Whats so special about Doom 3 anyway. I doubt it will be the most fun game ever made. As for the graphics, they have been done before. Maybe I just don''t keep up well enough on the topic.

Uh, Blade of Darkness came out at early 2001, that''s two years before Doom 3. AFAIK, the only thing it''s engine lacked compared to Doom 3 were shaders (most notably speculars and bump-mapping).

And dynamic shadows/lights have been pretty popular in console games for a while too.

My bad. I didn''t know they existed. In any case, I''m waiting for Doom 3 because I''ll be buying a new computer around that time, to make sure that my components will be good enough to run that and older games.

As I will still have my P3-500 a half year from now, a full year from now, and another 2 years from now...I''ll pick it up in the $9.99 bin at the local electronics store when I get my hardware upgraded...

I read some while ago that the lead artist from ID said that there was a position open for a sound artist. He should do the sound effects for Doom 3 blablabla and they said that he will be hired for less then 6 months..

So if they hire him till Doom 3 is released it will be released in 6 months.
