Hiya my names Russ, I''m 24 and I come from England..... I''ve been playing games ever since I was 8 years old and when I reached 20 I really had this ambition to want to create my own game. Now let me be honest with you all........ I have very little experience with game development, I''ve done very basic, visual basic training, and a little bit of C++.....I want to learn as much as I can, from Programming, drawing and even writing. One thing I do have, is a great imagination, I don''t know what it is but I can come up with game ideas very quickly. My main reason for posting on here, is to make some friends that will hopefully provide me with some insight and help me get the project to a demo stage.......I would appreciate as many replies as I can get. I don''t intend to go this alone, I''m no artist or programmer although I''d like to help in these fields to gain some kind of experience. My ideal plan would be to get some of us together that can work as a friendly team in an attempt to get my idea to some kind of prototype stage, with story boards, concept artwork and soundtracks. Obviously anyone who wants to work with me, will share the success of the title should it come to be, I just want you guys to know, what''s my idea will be yours too. It''s been inspired by many different games but the closest I can put it to would be Myst, although it has more action based decisions within it. All you really need to know at this moment, is that the player himself will become the character, in essence form. Transported to another world where you have to posses one of it''s inhabitants in order to manipulate with the world itself. You journey through three dimensions of Good, Evil and Neutral, moving through different time zones in an attempt to solve puzzles and realise why you have been brought there. Like I said, I''m a complete novice to this sort of thing so I''ll have to ask you all to bare with me! If your interested then please email me:- Wyte_Angel@hotmail.com

Yeh, you will definitely make a lot of friends (beware of the one they call ‘Mittens’ though) in #gamedev (IRC server AfterNET: irc.afternet.org).

I think you are cool Russ… and for that I will give you my elite website address, here it is:

Subliminal message: if you are not Russ, then do not go to the address above. Thank you.

Russ, alot of people have great imaginations and "cool ideas", so it''d be pretty hard to find a programmer and artist who will build an entire game around your cool ideas just because they have nothing better to do. Especially since no pay is involved, this becomes less likely. If you are serious about this, and are planning on working on the game at all anytime soon, this is not the way to go. Unless you feel like starting a project just for kicks and giggles when it falls apart. You''ll need to clearly state that this is just a hobbyist/learning project, with no pay involved. And that it''d be good experience, or portfolio work for anyone who is interested in helping. That way you don''t make yourself out to look like an ignorant little newbie starting the next commercial MMORPG. Next, make sure you have one solid thing that you can contribute to the project, since basicly you''ll be leading it. May it be Programming, 3D Modelling, Concept Art, Texture Art, Writing/Game Design, Level Designer, or whatever. It looks like for the time being the only position you''d be able to fill is the Writing/Game Design one. Now, once your able to include the above in your post, make sure that all of the following are taken care of before actually making your post, otherwise you''d have a "Flame Me" sticker on your forehead:

- Finished Design Document
- Finished Web Site For The Game
- Team Members Accessable Only Message Board, Or Means of communication between all who are involved in the project.
- Organized Tasks and Meetings for all team members

When all of the above apply, THEN your ready to seek out some help for your project, but even if you are unable to find any, don''t be surprised. Believe it or not your asking alot, so you''ll need to be pretty determined to keep from failing. Hope this helps, and good luck.

By the way Aftermath, can I be cool too? PLEASE!
