This has really pissed me off. I got Suse Linux 8.1 Pro for Christmas, it installed fine, yet it wouldn''t automatically recognise my modem, the only problem. I search for about half an hour on the internet for the drivers page for my modem, after realising that the company who makes it have changed their name (from Diamond Multimedia, to SonicBlue). The website is like a jungle, yet I eventually find my modem (SupraExpress 56i Pro) only to find the stupid bastards don''t make a linux driver for it.
They''re effectively forcing me to use Windows, a pile of steaming turd, for my browsing of the internet, witrh Internet Exploiter.
It''s annoyed me to no end, I can either buy a new modem, I only recently bought this one, after my other one packed in, that supports other operating systems apart from the bloated piece of filth that''s Windows, or I can suffer having to use it everytime I want to go online.
Bah.
