Rendering two screens...

I going to be making a game that is going to require two seperate screens, both consisting of polygons. How would I go about this? Keep in mind, I''m new to OpenGL. If this is an idiotic question, I''m sorry. I just thought of something...while I don''t know how to do this yet (I''ve got a decent book though), could I use something like the stencil-buffer to draw to half the screen, then invert or redraw the buffer (by whatever means) and draw the other half? Any help would be really useful, thanks.

somebody skipped over the first two or three chapters in said ''decent book'' and missed everything about viewports...

Thank you! I noted that I'm new. I have a lot of holes in my knowledge because I stopped programming OpenGL to learn windows programming. =) As for the troll over there, I haven't read all the book yet. It's because of pathetic people like "eldee" that half the beginners stay beginners.

A person might read about viewports and not realise that the viewport area can differ from the client area, or that you can change the viewport at any moment. Eldee was unnecessarily rude in his response. What a shame that some people can''t give a straight answer to a simple and honest question. I guess it makes people feel smarter to belittle others.

calm down people. if i wanted to be ''unnecissarily rude it would''ve
been alot more obvious than that.

i was simply joking at the fact that alot of budding programmers
tend to skip the first few chapters of the books they buy to get
into the ''meat-and-potatoes'' of a game.
i mean come on- he mentions trying to use the stencil buffer to
create a second viewport? he knows how to use the stencil buffer
but hasn''t figured out what glViewport does?

if you want ''unnecissarily rude'' comments, check the help wanted
forums. you''ll find that my post was very easy going and even
funny.

Actually, I don''t know how to use a stencil-buffer. I just know that it''s mono and I know that it can be used to make reflections. "How" function-wise, I have no idea. I do apologize for calling you pathetic though, I just hate posts that don''t serve a purpose.

Sorry to bring this back up but, I found out to my shock, the popular NeHe featured book, does _not_ teach you about viewports! Not even in the index! Piece of...I payed how much for that?! lol

The book btw, "OpenGL Game Programming"

Okay, it isn''t in the index , but the book does teach you. Briefly mentioned on page 56-57 as well.

You can barely notice it going through the books contents too. =)
