Hi Everyone,
I''m in the process of writing a 3D game engine utilising the DirectX 8.1 architecture. At the moment I have a simple test application that loads a level mesh and applys some lighting. You can walk around in this "level" although collision detection is not yet implemented. I have put a zip download on my website (1.6 MB). I am curious to learn if and how it runs on your system and would be appreciative of a little feedback. A readme.txt is contained in the zip but a quick summary of keys is:
W Forward
S Backwards
A Strafe Left
D Strafe Right
R Reset Positiion
L Toggle lights on and off
P Particles (only executes once)
F11 In-game console (only one command "Quit")
Mouse turns and looks
System spec of development laptop is:
32MB NVidia Geforce 2
320MB RAM
1.7 Ghz Processor
XP Home Operating System
To download please go to http://www.nerotek.com and click on "Soul Engine" on the left. There is a link on the right to download the zip. Please note that the website is also under construction and I think there may be a display problem with netscape (not unuseable though).
Thanks
RayWilson
