[java] Java Compiler

I don't know which is the best (if any such subjective designation could ever be made), but from my limited experience, JCreator is good (and the Light Edition is free).

I also use JCreator (the free Lite Version). It has a bunch of features that comes in handy. Beats using notepad (or in my case PFE) and command prompt.

Well,

you can always try NetBeans or Eclipse (the two full-version-is-free major IDEs for JAVA).

have fun ...

I''ve never used IDE''s to compile source code but I''ve used the jikes compiler and it is very good. I compiles big projects extremely fast and gives decent error outputs. Just thought I''d throw that in there.

Cheers...
