What IS normal???

Original Post
I really don''t know! Does anybody out there really know what it is? I mean, everyone is always saying how each person is different, if that is so than how can there be a such thing as a normal person?
Somebody put me out of my misery and tell me what you think normal is...at least, pertaining to people.
-Q
P.S. No, I''m not miserable, I just wanted to see how creative the gamedev community really is.

Normality is defined by the community in which you live.
So, since I don''t know where you live, I don''t know what is considered normal there.
Eating people is normal for a society of cannibals.

A normal person is a person that learns what he is supposed to learn when he grows up. He is supposed to have the values that his surrounding slaps into him as a child and preferably not think much on his own. He is supposed to fill a quote of a part of the society where there is a piece missing. He should obey all laws and do his dutys to the society.
He/she must always stay close to average in all matters. Never stray away too much from the exact average.
Example.
Its normal to weigh your food to make sure you get the exact amount of calories. This is healthy. And people wont see you as abnormal for doing it.
Its not normal to eat a hamburger 3 times a week. (well in some countries perhaps) Its above average and therefor abnormal.
Its normal to babble in the phone for 2 hours in a row.
Its not normal to be quiet for 5 minutes when your not alone. (then you speak too little and are shy or unsocial)
and so on. Just stay with the averages and societieswritten
laws.

Normal is doing things entirely differently from everyone else. But forcing someone else to do them that way also, thus creating normalcy. It''s self-propagating.
"I''ve never seen that. I''ve never seen anybody drive their garbage down to the side of the street and bang the hell out of it with a stick. I''ve never seen that."
"I''ve never seen that. I''ve never seen anybody drive their garbage down to the side of the street and bang the hell out of it with a stick. I''ve never seen that."
I''m the cross-product of my parents. Thus, to them I am and always will be normal.

Normal is making rational decisions based on what is beneficial to you and your community with others. We as people have natural desires and wishes and loves, and being normal is to make sensible decisions based on those.
As for a manual for given situations A B and C, do D, I don''t think anyone knows that answer. Ah, free will and choices.

Normal is having an appearance and behaviour that society expects. Particularly your immediate community. Unfortunately this has people who are conformists and try to be what other people think they should be. Fear of doing something a little different creates a rather boring world. But changing trends in society changes what is normal. From what sports you play or the style of clothes you wear. I find it amazing what comes into fashion brought on by companies trying to make a sale or celebraties trying to put over an image. This in itself in conformity, and conformity is normal.

Nope, per week. Eating the same food 3 times a week is not considered normal. Especially not as unhealthy food as hamburgers. Atleast not in Sweden (or scandinavia id presume).
I used to eat 2 a day almost every day.

Since I''m a bit abnormal, I must be the dot-product of my parents.
Actually, if you use a dot product to measure normalcy, you can show that all those degenerates (you know who they are...) (O = (0,0,0)) are normal ( for all V, V.O = 0 ). You can also unfortunately show that degeneracy is a dominant trait ( for all V, VxO = O ).
So I guess they''re the normal ones. Ain''t math reassuring ?

Freddy: Now, that brain that you gave me, was it Hans Delbruck''s?
Igor: No.
Freddy: Ah, good. Would you mind telling me whose brain I did put in?
Igor: And you wont be angry.
Freddy: I will not be angry.
Igor: Abbey someone.
Freddy: Abbey someone. Abbey who?
Igor: Abbey normal.
Freddy: Abbey normal.
Igor: I''m almost sure that was the name.
Freddy: Are you saying that I put an abnormal brain into a seven and a half foot long, fifty our inch wide gorilla? Is that what your telling me?
Normal is a word. An adjective. The dictionary says:
nor·mal (nôrml)
adj.
Conforming with, adhering to, or constituting a norm, standard, pattern, level, or type; typical: normal room temperature; one''s normal weight; normal diplomatic relations.
Biology. Functioning or occurring in a natural way; lacking observable abnormalities or deficiencies.
Abbr. n or N Chemistry.
Designating a solution having one gram equivalent weight of solute per liter of solution.
Designating an aliphatic hydrocarbon having a straight and unbranched chain of carbon atoms.
Mathematics.
Being at right angles; perpendicular.
Perpendicular to the direction of a tangent line to a curve or a tangent plane to a surface.
Relating to or characterized by average intelligence or development.
Free from mental illness; sane.
n.
Something normal; the standard: scored close to the normal.
The usual or expected state, form, amount, or degree.
Correspondence to a norm.
An average.
Mathematics. A perpendicular, especially a perpendicular to a line tangent to a plane curve or to a plane tangent to a space curve.
I like the word ''pattern''. I kinda have the impression that if a certain behavior is repeated again and again and has some evolutionary advantage then I would consider that a ''normal'' behavior. I don''t think that people are ''normal''. I think that people just tend to perform the same behaviors again and again (pattern like) for either a means of survival or entertainment.
I think its safe to say that everyone has taken at least one shit in their life...so that I guess could be considered a ''normal'' behavoir.
