Well, it looks like I might be writing another book, and this time, I''ll be buying a laptop. I''m so sick of being no-where near a computer when I feel like writing. So, now I need an opinion; should I go for a 14" screen, or 15"? The 15" models naturally cost much more, and I''m trying to keep the price down. So, will a 14" screen be annoying? Especially if I''m writing? Or will it be big enough?
This is my signature. There are many like it, but this one is mine. My signature is my best friend. It is my life. I must master it as I must master my life. My signature, without me, is useless. Without my signature, I am useless.

I find that 14" is fine, visually (and occassionally I wish the darn thing was actually smaller).

Dude, if you''re going to mainly use the lappy for writing, a 14-incher should probably be fine. It''s not like you need uber-high resolutions for text editing after all.

I''d never go back to a 14". My 15" is just sooo much easier to read.

I now use my laptop as my primary PC from programming to 3D modelling. The extra inch makes a huge difference.

A 14" (14.1) is fine for me, you''ll find the viewing area is the same as a 15" CRT, but perfectly flat (makes the image look much nicer, I can''t go back to curved screens). Keep in mind that a 15" screen (which is somewhere inbetween the size of a 15" CRT and a 17" CRT) will also increase the size of the laptop, so you''ll have to consider how portable you want this thing to be (even at 14" I consider my laptop to more of a portable desktop replacement, than a portable laptop). If you plan on carrying it around a lot (ie. in a bag on your shoulder rather than in your car) I would actually suggest looking at a 13" or 12" "ultra light" model.

I still use my 12" screen on my P2 233 laptop for a lot of things. When I'm programming or writing on the laptop, I actually prefer the smaller screen. When I'm playing a game on it (yes some actually run ok) I wish I had a bigger screen. I think it's all what you get used to more than anything.
