I''ve been spending an awful lot of time on my biggest project; A Star-Control 2 clone (with a non inertia based battle system in the style of old 16 directional shooters) but I''m getting depressed about only having a sequence of demos that are only significant to myself to show my friends, hehe... (hey look, it''s a particle system! "yeah so.."...) Also, I''m getting depressed and bogged down about the whole thing, since it''s sitting at around 3500 lines of code (probably not that much to some of you, but...), and it''s STILL nowheres near finished; That, and other projects are making things come together even slower. However, the result of all this has been that I have a system in place for me to test new features that makes it quite easy for me to make simple demos, and such, and I was trying to think of a short, simple game to make. My ideas so far: Pong-in-a-bowl: Like pong, but with a curved paddle, that spins around a spherical environment: Essentially you have half of a sphere to defend. The math could get tricky, though. Tetris: Nothing special here. Space-Fighter: Inertia based one on one multiplayer space combat. This would give me a chance to try some network code, as well... Simple turn based strategy: well... I dunno. Could be fun. Maybe I could make it with squirrels or something . Scorched Earth clone: the usual. Any ideas? I''m looking for something I can complete in about a month... which means nothing real fancy. The only games I''ve ever made in a month before were a crystal-collector game (similar to xquest) and a pong game... if that gives you an idea.
