Hi!I have a question for u.I''m developing a 3D engine for a combat game(Mortal Kombat like). My question is what is the real difference between the immediate keyboard mode and bufferd mode in getting data from this device, wich are the advantages of each one and wich should I use. Thanks! Cozma Mihai

hm.. just looking at the names i would expect immediate mode to give me the state right at this moment while buffered mode wont loose input (in case a key has been pressed and released before you check for input).

and looking at the sdk documentation:
"Buffered data is a record of events that are stored until an application retrieves them. Immediate data is a snapshot of the current state of a device."

I found that immediate mode dropped keystrokes. With buffered mode, which I now use exclusively, you''re going to get a queued message for every press and release and it has never failed me.

Immediate mode is extremely sensitive to loss of data as your application slows down. Buffered mode can lose data as well if you define your buffer too small but the chance of data loss is minimal at best when compared to immediate mode.

I''m not sure why anyone uses immediate mode for anything other than a tutorial or a very simple application. If input device accuracy is required, immediate mode is not for you. Use buffered mode.
