Hello, My modeler of choice is Lightwave. I want ot write plugins that export animated models in a certain format that is readable by my game engine. However, I couldn''t find any good tutorials or even source code that show how to export model data such as bone orientation and position, skins, surface geometry, ... The SDK documentation is not that deep in details. I would like to ask the guys who have experience in coding for Lightwave. Thanks.

I don''t have much experience, but I have programmed an exporter once.
exporters are plugins of the MeshDataEdit class. so you can find the points and polygons with pointScan & polyScan.
There are no bones in the modeler, only skelegons, and skelegons are just polygons like faces, curves, patches etc. if the type member of the EDPolygonInfo struct passed trough the callback of polyscan is LWPOLTYPE_BONE, it''s a bone. to get to know to which surface a polygon belongs you can use the polSurf function.

To get the surface information like colour, diffuse etc. you need the LWSurfaceFuncs global
