Is there a free source code, command-line tool or similar things to build texture map UV coordinates from a mesh? No polygon should map to a texture region, which is used by another polygon. Thanks!

http://www.unwrap3d.com/index.html isn''t free - but it is good.

I know Ultimate Unwrap3D, but this tool wastes much space on textures for complex objects like human. And its commands cannot be called from my own program.

Box, sphere, cylindric and plane mapping have all a huge problem with concave meshes, because at least two polygons share a part of the mapped textures. So these cannot be used.

Is there any other way to create the UV coordinates for static light or shadow maps? I would also like to use few or only one large texture for it.
