Hi, can anyone tell me how to synchronize the datasets (table contents) in two MS Access databases without duplicating the database objects? MS help, as always, is completely elusive. Thanks in advance, Crispy

Has no one really ever dealt with this or is Microsoft incapable of providing any decent capabilities for its programs? I''d really appreciate some help as this could actually cost me my job...

By synchronise do you just mean make the data in db1 == to the data in db2?

use SQL

MS Access uses SQL as its basis.

yup - basically copy everything that''s new (non-structural) in db1 into db2 which may already have some entries (data) in it. the problem comes with the primary keys and references to them from other tables (relationships) - so copying the table contents via clipboard won''t work either on top of being a menial nuisance...

MS Access uses SQL as its basis.

and you should use SQL to copy your data between tables...
i.e., create a new "Query" and do something like this (simplified of course):

INSERT INTO [ c:\PathOfDatabase\database.mdb ].tblPutItHere
SELECT *
FROM tblGetItFromHere;
