im not very happy with the experience they sold me on, and the experience im getting. i know that gamedev and gameinstitute have a relationship - don'' want to get banned from gamedev.
i know there are others who have taken courses at gameinstitute.com. wanted to know if i am alone in feeling this way.
ill post my opionions of gameinstitute after the course is complete. they will be honest assessments too.

I took Gameinstitute''s game math course and their c++ intro course. I was happy with the intro to c++, but thought the math course was mediocre. The guy knows his stuff, but not everyone can teach, and internet courses in general seem to be either extremely good, or abysmally poor. I don''t know if he is relying on student interaction too much (which is provided by messageboards and online chats) or if he just isn''t the right teacher for the course. I''m probly gonna sign up for one or two more courses before I make my decision about the site as a whole, since they offer courses on topics I''m interested in, and I''m in the unfortunate position of not having much else to occupy my time ;(

As moderator of this forum, I would not recommend banning any participant who expresses their opinion of gameinstitute.com, or another website. As long as the comments are expressed appropriately and with some details to back up the comment. Tasteless comments may very well get you banned,
.
I would hope that any website offering educational services for a fee would be interested to obtain feedback so that they can improve their services. I would recommend that you provide feedback to gameinstitute directly.
I can say that one of my colleagues here has taken a couple of courses on gameinstitute.com and his experience was satisfactory.

ok, maybe i went a little too far with the ''banned'' comment. i am glad to see others have near the same feelings i do with gi''s course.
i have contacted gi directly, regarding the lack of interactivity on the board (3weeks with out a question being answered by instructor). their reply was ...well here, i''ll post it verbatim.
"I took that course myself last year and had a great time talking to ___ on the boards and in the chat. It seems his life has become a bit busier since then because other students have sometimes been wondering where he is as well. I''m sure that he''s doing the best he can to stay up with the course he runs but please remember that these are like adjunct instructors at a normal college - part time. Even so, I''ll send him a reminder to get to the boards as soon as he is able."
which he did, respond to the boards. for a while anyway. and what is this about being adjunct? im paying for instruction. part of the instruction is answering our questions. this isn''t happening.
i have tried to use the online chat 3 times. no one, not even the course instructor was online (irc style chat). all three times.
blatant errors in the pdf materials we are supplied with, i could go on. but ill wait until the course is over then give a review. i will say the material that i have gone over, has shown math in a much more game oriented light - which is something i haven''t experienced before. MATH is FUN (sometimes...)

...and what is this about being adjunct?
That is a bit ominous, I fear. In my experience (having been through B.S., M.S., and Ph.D programs at a formal University), Adjunct Professors were prof''s who had retired, but were invited to come back on occasion to teach one course, or participate in a project here and there. And those I''ve dealt with have tended to be less dedicated than people who made their living as full-time prof''s.
As far as having to pay for courses goes, it can be quite beneficial. Some people (myself included) find they are more motivated to complete an indepedent project if they are mentored by a professional or otherwise more experienced individual. Even though you can read billions of web pages and books about every game development subject under the sun, there''s nothing like having someone give you a nudge in the right direction from time-to-time. Of course, if you pay for that, you''d expect to get that nudge.
