There are a few ways to find an inverse of a matrix, all of which are discussed in any linear algebra text. The most common method for implementing in code is by using tha adjoint.

A^-1 = 1/det(A) * adj(A)

The adjoint of A can be computed recursively by determing the cofactor for each term in the matrix and then change the signs based on:

sign(cof(A)) = |+ - + -|
|- + - +|
|+ - + -|
|- + - +|

Hope this helps.
