Hi,
I would like to have Input boxes where the player can type his name in, in my game. The problem is, that I''ve got no idea how to program things like inputboxes or radiobuttons.
It would be nice if sobody who sold the problem give me a part of his source, so that I can do it myself too.
thanks for helping

If you want a full GUI system, I''d suggest you take a look at a tutorial series on this site about exactly that. "Articles and Resources"->"Programming"->"DirectX"->"General"->"Developing a GUI Using C++ and DirectX Part [1-4]". It''s a good start for GUI design, maybe a little overkill if you''re doing a very simple UI, but you should be able to extract the relevant parts. Good luck!
Hi Fireface--
Unless you''re done with your game I''d highly suggest using Win32 controls for your game initially, or even reading settings from an INI file. Then code a nice GUI.
There''s a fairly decent 4-part tutorial here on GameDev. Read that, re-read it, re-read it, etc... until you understand what you need to do, then figure out on paper what kind of controls you want to have and what some features you''d like to have are (like, would you like the ability to play an AVI on the surface of a certain window, etc). Once you''ve come up with a basic design, start coding using the tutorial as a guideline.
I''m in the process of developing a GUI (still) for my game that has all of the standard win32 controls (minus richedit), plus some of the more used common controls. I may submit it here for others. It will be in OpenGL but the beauty of how I''m coding it is it''s going to be easy to make a DirectX version.

I am just about finishing up the GUI that I've been working on the last 4 or so months...

But it would be nice to have something which works with DirectDraw, because I''ve got no idea what to do with DirectGraphics or something higher than DX 7...
The DX8 SDK has some DirectDraw sample title "Full Screen Dialog" which displays a dialog box in full-screen operation. Have you checked it?

Sorry, but I haven''t got the DX 8 SDK... only the Version 7.
All of the DirectDraw samples should be in the DX7 SDK as well since they didn''t update DirectDraw for DX8.
It''s possible to use a Win32 GUI in a fullscreen app in DX7, I''ve done it but it was a while ago. The samples should demonstrate it.
