Hey guys, I have a problem using WS_POPUP with CreateWindowEx(). My aim is to create a fullscreen window (well, it''s no problem) but this time, when I use WS_POPUP, I see a black screen when starting my app (WS_OVERLAPPEDWINDOW works fine). Anyone have an idea of whats going one? Thanks in advance for you replies!

Hey,
All WS_POPUP does is it gets rid of the frame part of the window. I have been looking up how to do full screen myself not too long ago. You may want to start looking in ChangeDisplaySettings(), GetSystemMetrics(), and EnumDisplaySettings(). You may also want to check out the DEVMODE structure(?). GetSystemMetrics can be used to get the current resolution basically if you dont want to change resolutions. If you do, dont worry about that function.

hmm, could you post some of your code? I''m not too sure on what to say about why it is going black like that.

I had a problem yesterday with OpenGL graphics not being displayed when the window had the WS_POPUP style. It worked fine in windowed mode.

Turned out as I was setting up my viewport/projection on recieving the WM_SIZE message, I needed to call this after the window was set up, if the window had the WS_POPUP style. Otherwise it would get called once before OpenGL was set up properly.

Stupid question im sure but are you casting your brush, and if so are you using the brush you want to use?
I use WS_POPUP all the time and no real problems here.
