given an image to tile and a heighmap, how could you generate a stereogram, particularly arbitary repetition? ******** A Problem Worthy of Attack Proves It''s Worth by Fighting Back

you know, while reading your thread title I flashed with a crazy idea... could it be possible to make an stereographic animation? that would be pretty cool, I mean, a 3D game and every frame converted to a stereogram... I don''t know a bit about stereograms anyway, sorry for posting this.

Error 500 - I lost the count.

Magic Carpet 2? That did exactly that.

To generate a stereogram, just scan along each row (starting after your tile image) and

plot(x,y, point(x - seperation + height(x,y),y))

Where x,y are the co-ordinates, and height(x,y) is the heightmap at that co-ordinate.
point(x,y) returns the colour at pixel x,y
plot(x,y,colour) plots colour at x,y
seperation is the width of the tile image.

I think this is right, it's been a long time since I did it.

Well actually I was thinking about this kind of stereograms, they look REALLY DEEP, far more 3D than the ones with glases.

It had both glasses, and stereogram mode. (Or was it Magic carpet 1, I can''t remember. Either way it looked rubbish).
