Hi, I''m fairly new to game development and I''m planning on buying Microsoft Visual C++ .Net, but since how I''ve heard it doesn''t work in Windows ME, I planning on loading XP. I''ve heard some rumors about problems with my modem(Conexant HCF V90 56K RTAD) with XP. Does anyone know if these rumors are true? You can run the XP Upgrade Advisor program which will check your PC for WinXP compatibility (though its a 34MB download - kind of rough for a modem). Check: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/compatibility/default.asp

My advice would be to give it a try. If your current modem doesn''t work, get a new one. You can get a name brand V.92 modem these days for like $25.

I have that modem and am using WinXP, however I needed to download a driver update. Do you have a Vaio computer by any chance? Anyway, I got mine from Sony''s site, however I belive the installer does a check to see if your system is really a Vaio

Penguinzchaseme,

If you accidentally double post, you can click Edit on the post you don''t want to keep, check the "Did you double post" box, and then click the Modify button. That will delete the unwanted duplicate.

Tell me about it, I was so pissed that my favourite game''s sequel was cancelled, it was looking GORGEOUS...
