How do people usually go about rendering an animtion? My artists are using 3ds max. What i am think about now, is having them render each frame as an image, and then loading all of those into a converter to make it into my game file. Other methods i could imagine are some kind of 3ds max plugin or rendering as an avi animation and importing that data. I just want to know what is a common or easy way to go about this. btw, i havent used 3ds max myself, so i dont know all about how artists can render.

Mmmm..you could check out www.gametutorials.com for ideas. Uner the OpenGL section you can find a (or a few) tutorials on animating models from 3DS. The theory should apply to a wide range of animation.

I think the main idea is to have a 3D studio file containing the animation, then loading its keyframes (which your artists can define) and interpolating between those. Or something. :s
