How do you debug in dx9? Any quick tutorials? Is it similar to dx8''s dxerr8? I need to figure out why CreateDevice won''t work one computer unless it''s set it to D3DDEVTYPE_REF but on a different computer it works fine with HAL. Thank you for your help!

Thanks (: I''ve installed the debug runtimes already but I don''t know if you use them the same way in dx9 that you do in dx8 by using the DXTrace () function. Is it the same but you include dxerr9.h and run DXTrace? Thanks again!

if d3d code is failing, look at debug output to see why.

This might sound a little harsh, but it''s important:
You have to learn to search for the information yourself. Only when you fail, shall you post to forums/lists/whatever. If you ask people to do stuff for you whenever a problem faces you, you''re only hurting yourself.
You''re not learning that way, you HAVE to learn to search, research, ...etc

If you opened the DX9 SDK docs, selected the index, typed in "DXGetErr" you''d find that you have DXGetErrorDescription9 and DXGetErrorString9, just like in 8.

The SDK is the place to search when you have a question about DX, followed by nvidia/ATI/google, possibly

Thanks! I tried searching on the sdk''s help file but failed to find much of anything on it and searching online didn''t help at all. (Really hard to find good stuff about dx9) Just gotta improve my searching skills I guess. (:
