Having gotten the game itself working, I want to get the menu working as well. Its not a matter of where or how to code... but how to make a good interface. What should it feature? What kind of graphics/soundfx would be necessary, which would be good to have, etc. And how could I make it extremely intuitive for the user?

I wrote a simple menu API for my game. Mine reads text from a text file (for easy translation) and can support different fonts for portability. Each menu option can be one of several different types:
1. Toggle/counter
2. Opens sub menu
3. Calls a function (the function address is passed).

That''s all I needed. I''ve got a ''set up'' call to initialise the text data and toggle values, and one call, called each frame, to monitor the input and modify the current selection etc. It makes the whole game front end much easier. Title screen in a morning basically.

The only real rules are to keep it legible and assume that every user is an idiot.

Other than that, it''s all yours.

That last rule... I keep forgetting that.

Thanks.
