Just curious what size map an octree usually starts making a difference in speed, if say you set the number of polygons per node to 1000 or so. I''m still working on my loading times so I can''t really make a really big map yet but I''ve noticed on a 65x65 vertices map, with each node containing 1000 triangles, I mostly get about twice the fps if I don''t use the octree. Wondering if it''s the octree that''s slow or just my implementation of it.
Thanks!

the best is 50-100 triangles per octran, because frustum culling are more effective.

Could also depend if you use some kind of occlusion culling. For example, if you got a HUGE occluder, perhaps leaving it alone in a node would be the best Pretty extreme, but I hope you get my point...
