how backwards compatible is c#? i.e. does my final exe need to be shipped with DLLs along with it, in order to run on lets say win98? in the same way that an MFC app needs MFCxx.dll or VB and its vbx.dll... or can it stand alone ....or does it vary depending on what u include? thanks, -duck

C# is a whole new language, meaning that it has nothing to be backward compatible with.

The good thing about C# apps is that they''re freaking TINY. I wrote an entire C# SMTP Server and the final .exe ended up being roughly 49KB

The bad thing is that C# requires the .NET Framework to run (about a 23MB download). This won''t be much of an issue in the future, as the next version of Windows is incorporate the .NET Framework as part of the OS.
