In the newest installshield (PSP8 beta2 uses it), the option to choose the location where the program is installed is now under the option "for advanced users only" Why are they doing this, has it gone this far that even choosing the location of the program is considered "advanced" (by M$ of course)?

That kinda things been around for ages. I've installed several games that consider choosing where to put your game, where it should be placed on the start menu and whether or not to put a shortcut on the desktop 'advanced' options. Sure it's good to have things that are easy to use for computer beginners but isn't that going a little too far?
