hey guys, im doing an asp project and i dont have a ton of experience with programming for the web. asp is really easy thus far, just a watered down version of vb6 with a couple of built in objects it appears so far. my question is about https. so far im developing locally on my win2000 box using IIS. my question is: can i develop the whole app locally, when ultimately im going to have to serve the app on a secure server? while there be any additional conflicts, or will it be transparent to my app? anyone feel like spreading some knowledge? It''s been a while since I''ve done any web dev, but you should be able to develop locally and then transfer the lot to a secure server. Just the same, remember to schedule some testing time on the secure server.

What I recall about https pages is that you want all the component parts to be delivered through the https layer as well - but it seems to me that what counts the most is restricting form submissions to the ssl layer.

Make sure your SSL libs and IIS are patched right up--Microsoft recently got into trouble for an SSL security hole. The same one that plagued Free-Software solutions just a few months before it was found in Microsoft''s server.

Though this security hole should have a patch by now.

I think signatures are unprofessional.
