Hello, I was wondering if it is possible to have my server set-up so that whenever a certain page is viewed, an exe or dll is run and then a picture is loaded to the page. The exe/dll will be modifying the picture so it needs to wait untill after the exe/dll is finished before it tries to retieve the picture... any ideas? Thanx a lot! Tazzel3d ~ Dwiel

Look into "CGI" (Common Gateway Interface). How to set up your server to run CGI programs depends on your server, but CGI is what you need (or server-side scripting, like PHP or ASP).

I think it is possible to have a script do this, but I don''t see why you''d want to.

My best advice would be to ask these guys.

This is the polish virus. It is not an executable, but if you would kindly format your entire harddrive, we would be happy.

First you need to have the EXE inside the server file tree.

Then in a webpage two options are available.
(a) SSI option:
<--!#exec file="some.exe"-->
And have the exe print the image information to STDOUT (This is assuming you have the needed image somewhere else).
(B) <img src="some.exe" alt="something happens">

For option (b), you need to have the server setup to know to execute the executable file, instead of having the client download it. Normally this could be done on Apache by having it in the cgi-bin, I think, but I do not know what server you are running.

I think signatures are unprofessional.
Dude! You''re getting a signature virus!

So it is different on each server?

what I would like to do, don''t ask why.. I''m not even sure of the answer, is get it so that a screen shot of my desktop is taken and then saved to this picture file everytime someone goes to a certain page...

so you are saying that if I put it in the cgi-bin folder, most servers, or at least apache, knows that you want the file to be executed and not downloaded....

Is there any way to be sure that the page waits for the program to be done executing before it uploads the picture?

thanx for the extremely fast responses!!!
