Functional Games?

Hello, I am taking a class at my university which is teaching us to use Standard ML "New Jersey". This language seemed constricting at first, but is turning out to be a very interesting language. It seems to be much easier to write very stable code, because of its strongly typed system and ability to make exceptions anywhere. At the same time, the type system is polymorphic, so I would write a single list-searching function that can take lists of any type. This makes the language efficiant, because, in effect, you get many functions for the price of one in memory. Anyways, I was just wondering if anyone knows of any games out there that was written using a functional language, because I would like to look at some code that is larger than just small functions. All we write in this class are small functions, and some structures that use many functions, except for one game we had to write called HiLow. Thanks!

You may want to look at all the Lisp threads in the General Programming and the Lounge in the recent days. IIRC, Lisp has been used for the AI scripts of Halo and for the random terrain generation in some Age of Empires games.

Scary enough, there have been mass-market released games written in Standard ML. (Well if you consider being packaged with Nesquick in Denmark to be mass-market.)
