hey, my win2000 system is acting strange. sometimes, if i want to shutdown it doesn''t shutdown, but restarts for no reason. it gets really annoying because win2000 takes soooo long to reboot and i always have to wait until all the shitty apps are loaded so i can shutdown the computer :-(( it usually happens after a long day without restarting a single time. anyone know how to fix this?

The ultra long boot up time suggests to me that you have too many services running on your box. Here''s a reference to consult regarding the relative importance of each service W2K Services Config.

As for why it won''t stay shutdown, my guess is a registry value probably needs changing.

Slow shut downs: My machine used to do the same (5 mins or more just to ''Save Current Settings'') until I installed a beta of SP3 I found on fileconnect.com, now shutting down takes less-than 1 min, and logging off is almost instantaneous.
