Does anyone use this? It seems to work pretty well, but I am having trouble with one thing. I''d like to support changing mappings in my application, but I don''t want to use the built in configuredevices interface. I prefer to handle it directly in my game (mostly because I dislike the layout of the configuration screens). I can''t seem to figure it out though. Is there a way to do this, or am I stuck with configuredevices?

I believe there is a sample in the DirectX 8 SDK that covers this.

Are you sure?

Because there definitely isn''t one in DX9...and I''d prefer not to download 8 if I can help it.

You may have misunderstood me, or perhaps I just don''t get it. Specifically I wanted to use action mapping, yet NOT use the built in interface for configuring action maps (i.e. the IDirectInput8::ConfigureDevices method). There are no samples that do this that I can find.

Quote from the sample readme:
quote:

Description
===========
The DIConfig code demonstrates the implementation of a configuration user interface based upon the DirectInput Mapper technology. This sample code is *very* complex, and is intended to be taken as a reference implementation more than a learning tool.

And a small note, the same sample is available in the DirectX9 SDK too. I've done a search through the code, and at no time does it use the IDirectInput8::ConfigureDevices call.

Ok, I''m an idiot.

Yes, that is exactly what I wanted.

I looked at that sample when I first started with DInput...I have no idea how I forgot about it.

Thanks.
