With GNU GCC 3.2 they have decided to be more "ISO C++" complient. What does this mean? I''ve been using GCC 2.X for a while, and when I upgraded to 3.2 now I have a ton of (dependancy?) errors, in what I thought to be good code. Should I continue using GCC 2.x? Does anyone have any papers or links on this standard?

Okay, this may be way off but are you using g++ to compile? With MinGW the pre-3 versions let you use gcc to compile c++ code but in newer versions gcc only takes plain c and you need to use g++ for c++ code. I have no idea whether this is the same on other ports though.

I was of the impression that gcc just passed c++ files off to g++.

Perhaps you can show us an example of what you thought to be good code, but you''re getting errors with?

ISO C++ compliant means following the C++ standard laid out in document ISO/IEC 14882:1998(E) published by the International Standards Organization.

You can generally buy a copy online from your national standards body. For the US that would be ANSI (www.ansi.org). You can also get an electronic copy from the ISO website (www.iso.org).

Draft copies are available for free off the web. For example:
http://www.comnets.rwth-aachen.de/doc/c++std.html

As far as I know, the 1996 draft copy only differs from the final draft in minute ways. Mostly rewording and clarifications, that kind of thing.
