Programming challenges?

Are there any sites on the net that do like programming challenges. Where like you sign up and you are given diffent challenges each getting increasingly harder where basically you program software and applications that do specific tasks thus gaining a better score. Kinda like a game I guess? I cant seem to find any. Don''t click me! Killer Eagle Software

they have really hard competitions where you have to code versus time and other coders which can earn you prizes, but they also have hundreds of training/execise challenges of different difficulty grades.
Only problem is it requires you to use a java-applet interface for an ide and compiler, but you can still code in VStudio or what you use and copy and paste the code in the end, so it isn''t that bad.

Another thing i''m waiting myself for is the opengl challenge, but it''s been down for 2 years and they are like blizzard...every month they write on their webpage that it will relaunch in the next month...and this for 2 years, so i have no idea when it wil be back up, if ever

I''ve done topcoder for about 2 years now, it''s pretty fun. I totally recommend checking it out.

Also, there is the Valladolid Programming Contest Site.

This is a very, very good online contest website. Problems it presents are of purely algorithmic nature. This is real programming, where you really need to strain you''re brain.

It has a very large library of questions (1300 different problems) ranging from funnly easy ones to incredibly hard ones. And it has a very good online atomatic evaluation of you''re solutions.

It also features a ranking list of all its members.

Try it out.

Thanks for your concerns Burning Ice, I can confirm that OpenGL Challenge will be back this Summer with a vengence.
If anyone cares to PM me I'll quite happily explain the delays/strategy. OpenGL Challenge will remain "PURE" in a world where websites are so commercial - OpenGL Challenge will remain true to the 3D coder community - no advertising.

I'm looking forward to it myself. I'm think of perhaps
starting the voting now for what competitions people want to start with.
