What is a "Commissioned Studio"? I don''t think I''ve heard that before.

Thank you for replying. My co-owner wrote that and he means "Commissioned Studio" as all of our employess are going to be paid by commission. That''s all we can afford right now until we can sustain proper funding.

What do you mean by "sustain proper funding" and what do you mean by paid commissions? Commission by definition is a wage based on a percentage of profit. Is what you are saying then in your round about way is you are running a volunteer project and will split revenue when you sell your completed title?

If thats the case why not just come right out and say it? People would find these boards a hell of a lot friendlier if they didnt constantly try to decieve the people they are attempting to recruit. There is no shame in saying you are running zero capital project. Lots of these projects are out there. Just say it for pete''s sake.

If you have a plan to get funding what is it? What is the time line for it? How many months will it take to turn a profit and how will it be split.

If you have found a way to get free money for your project outside of selling the final release please post it there are thousands of us here dying to find out.

I mean sustain proper funding by we are waiting until sponsors before we can pay anybody anything or if no funding comes, then paid when we bring in some ammouts of money.. There was no means of deception in what I have posted, or at least none intentionally. We want to pay people to help us, but that is not possible right now. So right now, yes, it is a volunteer job, but won't be for long, at least we hope. Sorry if we deceived anybody, that was certainly not our intention. We aren't sure how or when we'll be bringing in capital. We are just trying to get some people to stick with us throughout our situtation so we know that they aren't just there for the money

"Commission by definition is a wage"

I have to disagree; to me commission is not a wage.

"We aren''t sure how or when we''ll be bringing in capital."

If this is the case, then you won''t get funding. You need a plan stan!

I would like to make a comment to the sarcassim on this posting as far as financial is concerned. We need to remember money isnt everything, but is nice to have. And that some of the great wealthy, and famous people in life started with little or no money for example Bill Gates(Microsoft), Steve Jobs and Steven Wozniak''s (Apple Computers). My point is that you would feel really salty that you pass this opportunity up cuz of some company''s lack of financing and it actually developes overtime to make millions and your not a part of collecting some of it for your commision work. Then again it may not make millions but that depends on the type of people you get to do the work. You have people that want to sit and complain about financing and worry about showing up to work based on pay, and any other distorted reasoning they feel they have &those that actually spend more time doing the work and problem solving or looking at what needs to be done to get the job done right so they can get a better payment. For me I have planty of experience in my mind but not enough to do it all by myself. I cant even get employed by other game companies but theyll be sorry latter when I finally put all my skills and more into perspective and take over the game industry like a thief in the night. Ill do all this and more even if I have to teach myself to get there. And remember this is a commission job that means its not full time and you can be employed else ware while you make games for commision.

thats nice, unfortunately, we mere humans have to eat.

Bill used his parents money after he dropped out of school. They had some, you know. jobs and woz were friends, and were working out of a garage. Once it became clear they had a good product, they got funding too. But..gods that they are, even they had to eat.

Maybe I could be one of your texture artists. What is the exact scope of this whole project?

Sometimes even I leave long enough to eat.
