I have been thnking about the new forum software, and some of the so called ''improvements''. I like the forums as they are now, the inherent faults give character and I find them endearing. I will never grow tired of "EDIT: damn nested quotes won''t work", something which only happens due to the lack of nested quote support coupled with an inability to preview your post. That is but one of the many aspects that I love. Does anyone else feel the same way?

Yes, the staff is working on new forum software.

And so, the evil religion thread stole the wonderful "What the Heck?" thread's throne. Truly a sad day for gamedev.

Yes. I also like the GDNet boards. They give me a nostalgic feeling, sort of like the feeling you get when you play games on a NES or using an Amiga. However, I would like to see the new forums, if only to see what they are like. I just hope it doesn''t become like every other board on the internet (built using phpBoard, but no change from the default buttons).

Another thing I want to see in the new forums is the point system, where your posts are supposedly rated by moderators and the respective thread starter.

The software will be custom developed by members of the GameDev staff. Mike Tanczos wrote the original forum software, so I assume he is developing the sequel. Michalson also seems to know a lot about it, so maybe he''s involved.

Michalson and Mike are working on them. Most of the changes are behind the scenes. They look almost exactly like the current version of the forums. I''d strongly recommend withholding judgement until you actually see them.

Like the inherent faults that people found a few months back when some were playing with SQL injection? And I _dont_ like having to say "Oops! Nested quotes dont work!"

I don''t understand this nostalgia for bugs. I greatly look forward to the new forums.
