Purely by chance, while researching an Essay, I came across this Wonderful site - Wikipedia. It''s an open source Encyclopedia which the users can edit and expand themselves. While reading my research topic I noticed some spelling errors and within a couple of minutes the page was updated all new!!! It is completely open source aswell, With both the source and database available for download. Just wondering if anyone else has heard of it

I''ve heard of it, but I haven''t used it. Everything2 is similar except it''s more open ended to what information it has.

I love Wikis. If you plan to host a Wiki web, try this engine: Twiki (http://www.twiki.org). It''s open source, and it has lots of features. A very good engine.

Encarta also works.

?

Since when was Encarta open-source and user-edited?

I just meant it''s good for a reference.

Oh, right. I thought they were charging for it''s use at some point, though, weren''t they? What with the days of broadband, it seems like there''d be little point in MS selling Encarta on CD if you could get it for free online in probably less time...
