Eh, Penny Arcade is hit and miss IMO, but it's okay. My personal favorite is 8-Bit Theatre. MegaTokyo is a close second. Despite Tycho's objections, continuity rules

General Protection Fault. The current strips are a bit of an anticlimax after the hugely impressive epic story it''s just been through, so if you read it, I recommend you start from the beginning
Sexy Losers (WARNING: not for those under 18). This is a *very* funny strip which, rather than just being a ''porn strip,'' is a strip that actually makes fun of sex itself. Well, I like it at least.
Superpig
- saving pigs from untimely fates, and when he''s not doing that, runs The Binary Refinery.

Wow, no one's mentioned Angst Tech or Weak-end Warriors
Go here you worthless bastards
Edit: Also Shaw Island is not bad
And for the record, I don't see what the big goddamn deal is about PvP. It's not that good.

I used to really like PvP, but it seems like its going downhill. It''s as if he''s (Scott Kurtz) has decided he''s gotta go mainstream now to keep it''s popularity going, so it''s turned into every other strip you can read in the newspaper. Penny Arcade and WarBucket (aka theBucket) are now what PvP should be and used to be.
BTW, I don''t know what to think about that Elfor comic! I mean, it''s so stupid... yet... I want more... I dunno... what''s wrong with me?

I read penny arcade, but outside of that my tastes run toward more narrative style comics. In addition to MT and Errant Story, here are a few I read (roughly in order of the frequency I check them for updates):
Comic: Dominic Deegan
Updates: 6 days a week, religiously
This is the only comic I read (besides PA) that uses 4-frame style, and the main reason is that Michael has managed the rare trick of combining funny throw-away punchlines with a good story. In brief, it's about your friendly neighborhood oracle and his adventures, which frequently include dealing with the narrow-minded idiots that make up the bulk of his clientele. However, the story appears to be taking a darker turn with the appearance (at least in vision form) of Dominic's eeevil necromancer brother Jacob.
Comic: A Miracle of Science
Updates: twice a week (MTh), religiously
This is a really cool hard SF story about a villainous plot to TRY TO TAKE OVER THE WORLD! (ahem) perpetrated by certain individuals inflicted with SRMD (Science Related Memetic Disorder), colloquially, mad scientists. The art is in color, and the writing is top notch.
Comic: Flipside
Updates: MWF, more or less.
Flipside is about a mercenary swordswoman and her multiple personality-inflicted, nymphomanaical (at least one of her personalities), jester companion. It's been updating for quite some time and there is a LOT of it. Brian has improved immensely both as a storyteller and as an artist since the early chapters, so I recommend peeking at one of the latest chapters before forming any firm opinions. It's really pretty good now.
Comic: Kung Fool
Updates: Claims 3 a week, usually good for 2
Kung Fool's nominally about the making of a cheesy kung fu tv show, but that really doesn't say much about the actual content. Good funny, good story, great flash animations in the earlier strips, frequently colored, and the art's great.
Comic: Strings of Fate
Updates: Mondays, frequently HUGE updates
If you read MT you've probably at least glanced at this, but it bears repeating. Jen is my favorite artist out of the whole wide world of webcomic-dom. She went on a long hiatus while starting college, but she's back now with Act 2, and the story's only getting better. Basically it revolves around an average every day guy who discovers that he is in fact the mortal reincarnation of one of the 12 zodiac gods. The updates are often uninked pencil-art, but that's ok because it's so damn good. check out the gallery too--lot's more amazing stuff there.
Comic: Eversummer Eve
Updates: Mondays, religiously, up til last week.
I've been reading EsE for more than a year now, and in that time the story has advanced depressingly little. The art is very good though, so it's worth at least a look. In fact, I think part of the current hitch in the update schedule may be due to Denise not having planned out exactly what ought to happen after Griffon &Co FINALLY got sucked into the fey-lands. There's hope that the next few updates will bring some fairly substantive events though.
Comic: Eidolic Fringe
Updates: Mondays, faithfully
Eidolic Fringe, nee Radical Dreamers, is fairly new, so it's a good place to go if you're not looking for a huge pile of archives to plow through. It's also wonderfully drawn by a certified Moody Artist (tm), and so far the story's keeping me interested. It starts with the main character getting by a bus in the process of rescuing his crush from the same fate; he sinks into a coma, and also into a mysterious alternate dimension, in which he gets plucked from the waters of a great ocean by a crew of privateers, some of whom appear to know more about his peculiar situation than they let on.
Comic: Saturnalia
Updates:claims WFS, usually good for 1 a week though.
I was also following this one for a while before MT linked it. It's a great mixture of humor and story, about a cop who falls in with a bunch of ASPCR style militant robots' rights activists. It's all the more interesting since ideologically he's much more in the "robots are property" camp. Cool overtones of Blade Runner. Definitely worth reading, even if updates sometimes are flaky.
Comic: Shadowlark Symphony
Updates: Claims MWF, usually about once a week at the moment
Shadowlark definitely wins my 'wtf is going on' award. I'm pretty much totally lost at the moment; I know there's a formerly cryogenically frozen girl, a one-armed badass blademaster chick, and some guy who is supposedly the main character but gets practically no screen time. It's well drawn, though, so I keep reading, hoping things will clear up eventually...
Comic: Skyfall
Skyfall has a nice sharp artistic style, and some really cool character designs. Unfortunately, it (like EsE) seems to have problems actually getting anywhere with the story. I haven't been reading all that long yet, but so far the main characters have met up in a bar, gone out into the woods and...gotten invited to dinner. I think the artist might be spending too much time on the omake
. Still worth reading though, just to admire the artwork. There's not a lot of archives either so it's easy to get up to speed.
Comic: The Fallen
Updates: Sundays, pretty regularly
Aido's my other favorite webcomic artist
. Story's about, well... a fallen angel, obviously. I don't think I can really do the story justice with a proper description; on the one hand not a whole lot has happened, but on the other I've never felt impatient as I have with EsE...partly this is just because the artwork is so fantastic, just admiring the pages is its own reward.
Comic: The Castings
Updates: I think about once weekly
It's sort of your standard fantasy quest comic...err, I suppose Lovarian Adventures would be your real standard fastasy quest comic. It's pretty good anyhow. Artwork is sketchy but cool, and I like the character designs. The Castings are these big magical focal point ancient artifact type things, one of which has just been destroyed, which is naturally supposed to be impossible. The Party is setting out Somewhere to do Something about it. I'm a little vague on the details. They've just wandered into a village full of zombies though so it's all good.
Comic: Timescapes
Updates: Once weekly, currently on hiatus til mid May.
When I first encountered this comic I didn't like it at all, but I've since reversed my opinion. It's about a young priestess who is given a magical time travelling sphere, a pat on the head, and instructions to save the entire universe from certain destruction. With a premise like that you might expect it to be all throw-away humor, and it does start like that, but it gets deeper and more interesting as it goes on. The comics are all in color too.
Comic: Xamra
Updates: Mondays
Xamra just started, so it's tough get a read on it. The artwork is very good though, if painfully manga-ish in style. The artist is splitting his attention between it and a pay-only comic for Modern Tales, which I think is crazy to say the least
. So far the story hasn't lived up to the artwork, but I am eternally optimistic.
Comic: HFT
Updates: Wednesdays, I believe faithfully
HFT is another fairly new comic. It starts with a fairly standard premise: teenagers with mutant superpowers trying to get by in an ordinary high school, but it's showing a lot of promise in the direction of surpassing those modest origins. The artwork is quality, and you've got to appreciate the dry humor in the writing. It's also longform, which is a nice change of pace.
Comic: Utukki
Updates: Sundays, more or less reliably
Utukki's been around a long time. It's also been a hiatus a long time. However, it's updating regularly now, so we might as well enjoy it while it's here. Big color updates are very nice. Has Babylonian deities running amok; I can dig that.
Comic: Demonology 101
Updates: Every other sunday, usually multiple pages though
Speaking of being around forever... What webcomic list would be complete without mentioning this soap opera about the half-demon girl Raven and her ongoing conflicts with the Jenner family and its demon masters? The archives are vast; when I finished them I really felt like I had accomplished something. The art might not jump out at you as amazingly good, but it grows on you (it also improves steadily, as well). Sometimes the motives of the various characters seem dreadfully obscure, but for the most part they become clear eventually.
Comic: Piggyhunter
Updates: Whenever the hell he feels like it, which is rarely.
The artwork is first rate; the story has been promising to get cool for a long time, and for a long time I've been disappointed... hard to move a narrative along when you update once a month
If nothing else, you should check out the finished comic on this page, Chiga and Kaput. The architectural backgrounds in particular are really amazing.
Comic: Desert Rocks
Updates: I think about once weekly
I had to mention Desert Rocks...it's just so quirky and low-key, yet it has what is revealing itself to be a really interesting story. I'm going to hazard a guess that you won't be much taken with the artwork on first sight, but keep with it, and keep looking at the backgrounds especially. At a certain point I realized they were in fact really, very good. The main character is an itinerant refugee (whose homeland recently wound up as the latest province of a Warlord's expanding Empire) who has currently fetched up working in a date plantation. This is not your typical webcomic; worth giving a try for something different.
