Remember the TIPS Program?

Original Post
I posted about it here before: TIPS Program.
My neighborhood had its very first incident this past week.
See, it turns out that an employee of Adelphia cable who bury''s cable is a member of our beloved TIPS program. A Chemist who lives down the street from me just had Adelphia installed over the winter, when they can''t bury cable, so they had to come back later. Wednesday was later.
On wednesday, the adelphia guy came to his house while he was at work, and let him into the back yard without permission (he didn''t even know the Adelphia guy was comming, they do this unscheduled; idiots tore up my phone line that way, because they didn''t bother to ask me), and started burying the cable.
Being the good little snoop that he is, he peered into the dining room, and saw an evil chemical distillation setup. Promptly, being a good little snitch, he called his TIPS hotline, and within hours, the FBI had the entire house raided, and the police had the owner arrested at work, in front of everyone.
It was a cheap $40 play chemical set; you know the ones that hobbyists use? He bought it for his son''s birthday.
My local newsmedia covered the arrest; but news about his complete aquittal of all charges never even made the newspaper. People already treat him like he''s a terrorist now.
Thank''s America.
Sue for damages?
I know that the preferred method of bickering these days is law suits, but this guy doesn''t have much of a recourse.
Although he probably wont get a dime out of Adelphia... what with their complete collapse and loss of the Sabres and all.

For once, I am as alarmed as you, Mith. This is as shocking as it is appalling. If it was in the paper, please link us so we can spread the gospel of how horrible TIPS and the Patriot act are.
Yeah, I''ll be looking for it. Unfortunately, Buffalo is mostly half-assed when it comes to tech issues, so I''ll see if I can track down a paper from Wednesday and scan it.
I have some deuterium, am I teh terroist?

What are the odds that something like this would happen in Mithrandir''s neighborhood? In a way, Mithrandir is one lucky guy to have something like this happen right under his nose, giving him perfect anecdotal stories to liven up his agenda.

Must be pretty good, because Mith always has these sorts of things happening. Shit that he says never (or very rarely) happens in Florida, and we get all kinds of wackos from across the country.
This is horrible. Completely innocent people having the privacy invaded and their good names sullied while people like myself continue to formulate kewl b0mbz in their basement.
I seriously don''t like it at all. Joe Schmuck has no place deciding for himself if that jar of off-white liquid is wallpaper glue or VX GAS OMFG.

Uh... I''m pretty sure the TIPS program was disbanded a while ago Mithrandir, I remember reading about it (although the news of its end was significantly less publicized than the news of its beginning). The Citizen Corps website no longer has any mention of it under its list of programs. I don''t doubt this guy called the FBI or some other authorities but it wasn''t TIPS.

First of all, I do believe my nick is CmndrM. Secondly, thanks is not posesive, and the s is not short for is. Therefore, there shouldn''t be an apostrophe. (If it were possessive, that would be like saying somebody named Thank owns America). Thirdly, that was meant as a light-hearted joke.

It''s a big street (over 10,000 addresses on it), and I wasn''t even here when it happened, which is why I hadn''t posted anything until this morning. I''m only finding out about it after the fact.
If you''re going to imply it, just spit it out you fucking moron: I THINK YOU ARE A LIAR.
Thanks for clearing that up. And fuck off while you''re at it.

You''re correct. I incorrectly assumed he was working under the program. Thanks for the info.
