Since no one else has responded, I''ll throw in my $0.02. Script languages are worthless for games. They will never be as fast as machine code since they have to run through an interpretor. This is going to involve, at the very least, integer comparisons from memory, then executeing functions, so the fastest an interpreted language can ever be is 1/2 that of a language compiled to machine code directly. If you look on I think the Berkely CS page (it was berkely or some other major CS university) there was a "race" done C++ vs Java, very well thought out, but nothing official...it found java, at its fastest (using the hotspot compiler, etc) to be 8x slower than C++ code. Still want to write games in script languages?

Absolutly correctly. I ESPECIALLY Like the 8x factor here. A stupid benchmakr read and interpreted by someone without a clue, I would say.
Expect 10% to maybe 20% performance drop. Which in most cases is way more than acceptable. AND you can optimise this out - especially in 3d graphics you should be able to go even down with the loss to maybe 5% to 10% of total performance.
The C# JIT (1.1, the new one) is pretty amazing, performancewise.
