I tried to install the new Nvidia drivers under mandrake 9.0 and it didn''t work. I changed the driver from ''nv'' to ''nvidia'' and checked to make sure that everything that was supposed to be removed was but when I rebooted, towords the end of the boot the video started blinking black and wouldn;t load up KDE(all I had was a promt line). When I changed it back to ''nv'', everything was great. What could be the prob? I have a GeForce4 MX 420

Make sure that you add nvidia into your /etc/modules.autoload or modprobe nvidia before you start X windows. Because X windows won''t start if you don''t have the nvidia kernel module loaded. I would say 9 times out of 10 if nvidia drivers don''t work, the module isn''t loaded.

What does X say? It oughta give some kind of error message somewhere.
