I read Pastwatch by OSC a while ago, but I was just thinking about it, and decided it was worthy of a thread. I can wholeheartedly recommend this to anyone. If you''re at all turned off by the Ender''s Game series (don''t see why you would be, though...), you''ll be glad to know that this isn''t anything like it. Sure, it''s definitely Card, just not in the style of Ender''s Game. Basically, it explores the idea that we have learned how to watch the past. There are machines that allow researchers to view all of history, basically as a movie. By this time, society has crumbled, and the human race is on its way out the door. Card bases the second half of the book on the theory that things basically started going downhill when Columbus discovered America, and returned to Europe to report his findings. This book brings up a huge set of ''what-ifs?''. Would anyone like to discuss them, if they''ve read the book? Or simply just talk about historical events, turning points, or whatever. I''m flexible.
