Okay, I'm sick of my friends giving me advice 'cause they're all over the map and I end up being angry and hanging up on them. What's a guy's take on this? Should I.... 1) Choose to remain happily single, because relationships are doomed anyway, so why start. Let things come to me and not worry so much about it. EDIT: The following choices were eliminated because: 2) I cannot choose to be a nun for choice 2 'cause I'm not catholic. I'm Protestant. 3) Boy A goes to school in another city. I won't have a chance to get to know him much before he goes back to school. 4) Boy B has been eliminated for good reasons. 5) Boy C I don't know. I can't do anything to make him responsive. So I'll just sit here. [edited by - Lilwonder on May 11, 2003 2:47:10 AM]

I don''t understand the question... Do you want *relationship* advice? From Programmers ?

See! Told you I''m confused.

But my friends all have their opinions and they are all biased and not helpful at all.

I choose 1 or 5 and everyone yells at me. Is there something I''m missing here?!!

Forget B.
Forget A, unless he somehow gets it together and charms you, or you somehow click with him.
Be friends with C, but beware.

Stay single, and explore life.

Go with the option that you feel is best so you have less regrets. If you need to 'think about it' and don't really have any idea which option you prefer, continue doing as you are now since no change is the easiest way to live. Be carefull whatever decision you make.

6. Stay as you are with your options open. You don''t always need to keep on the lookout. Let any relationships happen naturally by dating(or whatever interests ya) but take your time to get to know who you want to be with(not your friends). Live your life how you like and you just might get lucky.

True...but my mom''s been crazy lately. At like 3am in the morning last Saturday, she was chasing me around the house trying to give me tips she read from a magazine about how to get/keep a guy (she doesn''t know I''ve dated before).

"Listen to this, this girl--"
"No."
"But you need to hear this to get a boyfriend. Okay, so this column says--"
"No."
"But how will I ever get oranges and get someone to mow my lawn if you don''t get a boyfriend? So anyway--"
"No."
"Okay, just let me read this one story, this person she--"
"No."
"But--"
"No. Let me sleep, it''s 3am."
"Okay okay, just let me tell you what--"
"No. Good night. Out of my room."
"The article--"
"No."
"One moment--"

1 & 2 have got to be out, staying single for the sake of not getting hurt just makes things worse. Staying single for other reasons is ok, like if you just want a little fun and don''t want commitment... but staying single to avoid bad relationships will just make you unhappy anyways.

As for the other choices... it''s a hard choice, but nice to know you''re not short of options You seem to naturally like the guy in 5 most. Hmm.... the guy in number 3 you should really find out more about, you can''t really judge either way on him until you know him better, so maybe consider being set up for a date or something once or twice.. just to test the water and see how you get along.

I reckon, the same applies to number 4, you need to know more about the guy to form a decent opinion, my suspicion though is that if someone has wandering hands once.... they''re probably always going to be like that, unless they have grown up a lot! Plus there''s the trust issue.... you could end up coming to blows over something that isn''t even happening just because you suspect it.... a recipe for disaster!!

The last guy... well, being as you live so far apart, I''m guessing you don''t get to see a lot of one another anyways, so take that as it comes, perhaps arrange to meet now and again and if/when it feels right then commit to it, but I think you''re a little too uncertain of anything to commit to any of them at the moment. If you''re gonna go on any dates or what have you... just make sure you''re not treading on any of the others toes so to speak (ie make sure you don''t end up dating 2 at the same time and have them find out!!)

Well... I don''t know if that''s any help or not, but that''s my take on your situation,

Hope it helps

You can''t choose anyone you don''t know. But you can get to know them. How old are you anyway? You won''t find true love at a young age, and you may not find it at all. True love is not something everyone finds.

I''m 20, and in my mind, doesn''t need this. But for some odd reason, everyone around me (friends, family, etc.) are pressuring me. Is it just something wrong with me or something wrong with the world?

So tell her that you've dated before.
Depending on your mother, you might want to even subtly hint that you went a lot further (but don't directly lie) and let her keep guesing. If she thinks she doesn't know you, she'll either shut up and observe, ask lots of easy questions, or maybe even decide to leave you alone completely.
Or you could lock your door =-P

I think the best idea is to ignore everybody else except when life is at a peak or valley. Those are the only two times most people are usually oblivious. If life is anywhere near the middle then just go with what you want.

Here''s the deal with long distance relationships (man, that takes forever to type. LDRs.)

LDRs are really difficult, in many aspects. They will tax you financially. They will tax you emotionally. They will severely test your dedication as a partner. I''m not saying you shouldn''t try it, but keep in mind that over time a relationship with C will be much harder on you than a relationship than A or B (well... harder than A. Don''t trust B; "wandering hands" should be an 80-foot tall STOP sign to you.)

How appropriate. You fight like a cow.

Wel, this is a girl's advice, but...

Heh, if it were me I would grab boy B, but C sounds like he's the guy for you. Are your really set against moving? Carpe diem you know, if you want him don't let him get away. But if you're happy where you're at just ignore your mom - I wouldn't still be sane if I didn't ignore at least half of what my mom says.

I want to help design a "sandpark" MMO. Optional interactive story with quests and deeply characterized NPCs, plus sandbox elements like player-craftable housing and lots of other crafting. If you are starting a design of this type, please PM me. I also love pet-breeding games.
