Hi,
I''m totaly new to Game Devolopment(Graphical, that is), and I''m finding nothing useful in this site!
I know C++ and can do textual programming fairly well. I can use both procedural and OO(Object Oriented) programming. So I turned my eyes to graphical game devolopment. I knew this was a big online game devolopers resource and came here.
That''s where I hit a dead end.
It has API specific programming instructions on DirectDraw,Direct3D and OpenGL, but nothing on the concepts and basics of graphical programming. I saw the tutorial on DirectDraw in the "Start Here" section and started to read it.
But sky fell down.
In textual programming for console with C++ 6.0, you can create many functions, but ultimately only the function called main() is executed and if a function is not called manually from main or from another function called by main() then that function is not executed at all. That''s where the sample code presented in the DirectDraw tutorial seems to be wrong.
Hundreds of functions are defined but there is no main() so none of the functions seems to be have been called.
Can someone provide me information on this by posting a reply to this message or by writing a article?
Thanks in advance for the help.
