In VC++, how do you create your own project type? For instance, I mostly program Opengl, so I would like to make a project type that just inserts all the base code for me. (so I dont have to copy and paste it myself) Thanks

Hi,

You''ll want to have a look in the msdn at "Custom App Wizard". This is great for this purpose. Start it up from File->New then the Projects tab and select Custom App Wizard.

This little baby will build new project types for you. Read all the help files and readme.txt. Its a very good tool if you are building specific project types all the time - very good for base application frameworks, opengl/directx app frameworks, all sorts really. You can have default code setup for you, and compiler/linker settings preset. It is very very handy.

If you need any help with it, just yell :-) or check msdn, which ever is easier.

Hope this helps.

In my new project-type, I want the compiler to automatically generate a file called main.cpp.

putting "+main.cpp main.cpp" into NEWPROJ.INF doesn''t work.

Why not?

Thanks!
