The rolling stones got me thinking.... If we see visible light, and black is the lack of visible light being reflected or created, then why doesnt the black object disapear?

In complete darkness, the object would be invisible. However, with other objects reflecting light, the black object shows up against them, allowing us to percieve it.

It would only disappear if it allowed light to pass through it, but it doesn''t (usually).

Shine a light on a blackboard. You can still see the light, so it''s not completely black. If it was truely black it would look like a model with the normals pointing the wrong way: a silehuet (sp???), but the light wouldn''t go through it.

"Silhouette" and the reason we can see black objects is because they aren''t black; they''re dark gray. They still reflect light.

Ah but in pigmentation, black is the mixing of ALL colors, and colors are seen by visible light (all colors) reflecting off objects with pigments, so objects can be completely black, without reflection because black absorbs lights (which is why darker colored objects heat faster than lighter colored objects). I could go on and on, back and forth, because in the end, it''s all a never ending loop of shit no one really gives a hoot about.

Some Paints have black coloring, but other Paints don''t, instead having sorrell or bay colorings. But all Paints have white, whether thay are Overo, Tobiano, or Sabino. Also, some Paints have a truly blue eye, as opposed to the more normal brown eye.
