Hey, when i talk to someone on a computer i can imagine a little bit what he looks like and how he acts. When i read the posts here i imagine a bunch of geeks and nerds. I would like to know is there any programmer that''s "cool" or any women programmer that''s "hot" cause if it''s like my math class the good ones are geeks except for 1 or two. Kevin

lilwonder and felisandria both program, and IMO they are quite attractive. I don''t think I''m cool, but unlike some people, I have seen the sun in the last week

Cool is relative. Many of the really popular people at my school are the most idiotic and annoying people I've met in my life. OTOH, I know some people who I think are cool and very pleasant to be around, though they may not be as popular as some.

Anyway, asking someone whether or not they are cool is stupid. It's like asking someone if he's a "real hacker". Most of the people who say they are probably aren't.

Oh, and I'll bet you anything that 99% of the time, you imagine wrong.

Humorously enough at orientation the people at the table had an ongoing bet that one of the guys could guess every comp sci major that came to the table and I was the only reason he lost 20 bucks. Sucker.

Actually, to be totally honest, most of the people I know (in "real life", not online) are "nerds", but a vast majority of them do not fit the nerd setereotype. In fact, most of them are quite normal, and you wouldn''t know that they were "nerds" if you didn''t hang out with them very much.

Hahahaha, you made my day.

Anyway uh, I''m not especially popular, I have my crowd of friends. Mostly though, I can be friends with just about anyone I want, the only problem I have ever had with making friends was me not liking them. I seriously have a really strict standard when it comes to friends. I really don''t like a lot of people, some people think I''m bitch because of that but, oh well, I don''t like them either. I don''t really hate anyway, I am nice to the people I am around unless they are just too much to bear, which doesn''t happen much. But beyond that I''m not a super friendly person.

As for how people look at me in school, I''m pretty well respected. No one messes with me, bullies me, or any annoying stuff like that. People all recognize me as smart, so I get a lot of people asking me for help in stuff at school. I don''t mind this, I am always nice to them when they need help, unless that is, if I have told them the same thing more than once before. I am a pretty good teacher so teaching people stuff doesn''t bother me at all. Infact, I taught my mom the difference between the spanish verbs "ser" and "estar" in spanish today, and she doesn''t know spanish. It was fun

On a "hottness" scale I guess I''m fairly good looking...I don''t know, a bunch of the preppy popular girls last year (I was sort of getting used to them and getting to be friends with them) kept telling me how hot I would be if I cut my hair. My hair is cut short now (long hair sucks, too much to take care of) so, sure, maybe I''m hot to them, I don''t know I haven''t talked to them forever.

There you have it, my social rank.

Who are the nerdiest of them all? Probably the Lisp advocates.

What brings you cause to assume this?

No, the Lisp advocates are usually the smartest, the nerdiest are the ones who only use Java and think anything else is evil, and have 700 reasons to explain why.

I REALLY don''t consider myself attractive. Some girls do, but those are the fat ones. But I also, am not a looser. I do however consider myself a geek, and I''m proud of it. But, I''m not home everynight, I go out to bars, have fun, possibly bring a chick home, if I''m trying....... I''ve been hunting for hot computer chicks for, how long? FOREVER, and haven''t found one.

Last year, I made a pact to myself to say the first chick I find that is a programmer, no matter how ugly (I did set at least some limits), I would date.

The first one, I agree, did suck. The Next Generation, on the other hand, was amazing.
