Finally got my new system Asus a7n8x deluxe AMD Athlon XP 2400+ 512 meg ddr333 120 gig HD Radeon 9500 Pro All I can say is wow! For a measly $500-600 I have a totally killer system, even though it''s still not ''ahead of the times''. It did take a couple days to get all the bugs ironed out, but I think this new mobo and chip rocks. I decided to pass up the Barton chips as they were overpriced and were about the same speed (it seems only the L1 cache is a bit faster). Now, on to loading up Black Hawk Down and Splinter Cell...

You're happy with the mobo? What problems did you run into? Summer time and that means my current rig is obsolete again. Probably going to look into an barton 3000 in few weeks when prices become sane, not sure about much else components wise though.

Wow! Thats cheap, did you buy it whole or build it yourself. Its always good to get an ace mobo which allows for lots of upgrades.

You do not have 1GB RAM and 200GB hd, therefore you suck!

No more upgrades for me until the Athlon64 comes out.

For crying out loud, she has fishes coming out of her head on either side. How can you find this hot?!

When I built my machine a couple years ago I spent $400 and got a GeForce 2 GTS, new mother board, and 900 MHz Athlon. I just used my old hard drive and RAM (and no case! I''M hardcore!). It''s not that hard to build an awesome machine for just a little bit of money.
I like the DARK layout!

The FSB speeds are a pain to set up. Ever now and then the MB decides the chip is overclocked and refuses to startup. After reboot, it downclocks the CPU until you enter the bios again. Also, the computer locked up until I got all the AGP settings right. Running at 8x w/fast-writes, 66 Mhz. The FSB is at 133 right now, meaning the memory is not at full efficiency.

I built it myself, saved a lot of money. I even spent more than I should, but not by much. I ordered most parts from Newegg.

I''m no expert in this field, but can''t you just change the memory settings to asynchronous, and have the memory working at full capacity without overclocking the CPU (or changing the multiplier)?
