As I write this, I am drinking a Gordon Biersch Pilsner, which they describe as a crisp golden lager. And hot damn, it tastes like one. I like Ambers alot. Reds, Pales, Browns, and IPAs as well. I''ll drink Ale occassionally. My favorite Beer is an Oktoberfest brewed by Rock Bottom Breweries; the La Jolla, CA location has it every year. I''ve bought it buy the keg, growler, pitcher, and glass, and now that I live in the Bay Area I just hope that their San Jose location will brew it as well. I don''t drink the big name domestics; just imports and specialty brews. What are you drinking? What would you be drinking? The Tyr project is here.

I used to brew my own, but apparently you need a licence to do that so I stop. Now I just drink Keiths.

My dad used to brew his own. I tasted some of his home-brew wine once; it was disgusting. The Sloe Gin he made was quite good, though.

If it tasted bad he may have had let the mix be exposed at one time. Then bacteria can overgrow and really mess up the brew.

Keiths is great. I'm into the cheap stuff now though. So lots of Lucky Lager, and Blue. I'm saving my 11 luckies for tomorrow night.

[EDIT] Also, Peach Schnapppzzzz straight is great.

I had alot of friends in college that brewed their own, and some were pretty good. I am thinking about doing a bit of brewing down the road.

Right now I am having a Dos Equis amber lager, my favorite mexican beer.

When I used to be in rez, people there would drink lucky lager, mountain crest, and even PC. I mean, for crying out loud, PC is Superstore brand beer. How cheap can you get? Course, there was a guy there who drank forties of Old English and Big Bear, so maybe PC isn't so bad...

Myself, I drink Kokanee, or Ricard's Red if it's available.

I really can''t stand to drink cheap beer unless it is at a party and I didn''t pay for it. For myself, beer is typically about taste, not about drunkeness, on most occassions. Last weekend I drank 12 on Sat evening and had the mildest buzz; but I enjoyed them all.

Some more good ones: McTarnahanns (sp?) makes a really good Amber, and I think I found a pale by them a few weeks ago at BevMo which was good too. St Pauli Girl is a nice beer, but pretty light. Rolling Rock is good if you are dehydrated, as it is so light to be almost like water. Stone makes some interesting beers (they are located in San Diego); they have a good IPA. They make an arrogant Bastard Ale whcih has quite a following, and at Xmas time they release a Double Bastard Ale that is close to 12% alcohol. That is not one I drink for taste, but everyone should try it at some point.

See, I''d really hate that. I''m glad I have a low tolerence. I can just chug 6, and then drink the rest slowly, and I''m nicely buzzed for the rest of the night.

Yeah, if I am drinking for the buzz, I don''t drink beer. Citron Kamikazes are my personal choice, as the buzz still comes eventually, and they taste so damn good.

I''m actually alergic to beer, wierd huh. Even one will make me sick. But I can drink rum and coke all night long and be fine, drunk but fine.
My friend brewed his own beer once, it was the most vile and disgusting crap I have ever tasted. It was cool though and I hope he does it again .

Oh oh, OctDev, better delete this thread before MindWipe wakes up from his drunken sleep

As for favorite beer, I like simple beers. Like Pripps Blå. Then I''ll look east (to Finland), and elect KOFF as the best beer, with Karhu as runner-up and then another one, which name I can''t remember (it''s been two years since I was there).

LOLOLOLOLOL the thread will no longer be about beer but rather about drinking beer and the stupid life choices that incurs...and I am sure it will be my fault. Actually, that would be good; then he could drink beer and just blame things on me and not be so stressed about them. I''m here for you MindWipe!

Sam Adams huh Hitchhiker90? Well, it is a popular brew, but I tend to avoid if possible. Never been a huge fan; although I am wierd I guess, because I don''t think I know anyone else that likes microbreweries and doesn''t like Sam (sidenote--they are so popular at this point, can you even consider it a microbrew? Maybe that could be my justification for not liking it!). Have you guys had Kirin? Its a chinese beer, and really quite tasty.

I''ve never had any of thos beers CWizard. Next time I am in Bevareges & More (a big chain selling lots of beer wine and liquor in California) I''ll go to their European beer section and see if I can find something from Finland.

There is a French beer that I''m quite fond of called La Becasse. It is flavoured with various fruit juices. I not sure of all the different varieties, but the two I bought when I was last in France were lambic (cherry) and framboise (raspberry), both of which were very nice.

I was at a brewery in the Silicon Valley area recently, and they had a fruit beer on tap. My girlfriend got it and liked it, but I really couldn''t stand it. It tasted like fruit syrup with a little bit of beer, and was just wayyyy too sweet for my tastes. But I''d try another from a different brewery, because I wasn''t too keen on any of their beers.
