Warning: if you have a problem with socks, don''t read on
For two years now I''ve had a theory. So far it has proven to hold true in ~90% of the cases (the remainder 10% being debatable as well). The theory is postulated as follows: all people pull on their left sock first regradless of which handed they are. This also holds true for tying their shoelaces starting with the left foot and other that kind of stuff. There is only one condition that must be fulfilled - the sock has to be pulled on subconsciously and there must be nothing around that would physically force the person to pull on either of the socks first.
I''ve observed around 30 people so far (not too many, I know) and 27 of them have subconsciously pulled on the left sock first.
One can consciously acknowledge oneself of which sock he/she is pulling on first without altering the outcome of the process - therefore I''d appreciate if people here tried this out: wake up in the morning, wash yourself, eat and pull on your socks - then think which one you pulled on first. Simple. You can test this on your family members by observing them put on their shoes (or in more radical cases ask them to take off their socks and then put them on again).
I just observed myself putting on my right sock first, then the left. However in an odd twist, I put my left shoe on first, then the right, then tie the left first then the right.
I''m not totally sure, but I think I put on my right sock first. Will update tomorrow.
hmm..don''t know about the socks, but i always put my left leg in my jeans first. I tried to put my right leg through first just for shits & giggles once....man that was kinda creepy feeling.

Maybe it has something to do with that we read and write from left to right regardless of which hand we use?

This is an extremely stupid question, but like all stupid questions, it''s interesting and I just have to know the answer. I''ll have to check this out when I wake up tomorrow!
You know they used to burn people with "stupid" claims. Think of Galileo... And now I claim people mostly put on their left sock first.
