I know this is a simple problem, but it''s been keeping me for writing my apps. When i try to compile or run somthing i get a window that says i need an active workspace, then asks if i would like to create one. When i click on create i get a file directory window, and i need to save some text doc. where do i do this?

I take it your using VC++? If so, you just can''t make a .cpp and compile it. It needs a workspace. When starting a new project go to "File->New" then click the "Projects" tab. Then select "Win32 Application" give it a project name and hit ok. That will give you the workspace. Now just add your .cpp, .h, what ever and it will not bug you about an active workspace.

what folder are the workspace files in?

The project folder. projectname.dsw (project workspace file) and projectname.dsp (project target file; you can have multiple projects in a workspace) are two of them. I forget the others.

When you add your project name, it will create a folder with that name. If you look in that folder you''ll see all the workspace files and a folder called "Debug"
