Summer project

Original Post
Since I''m worthless slab and unemployed this summer living in my parent''s basement I have more time in my hands than I can ever imagine.
I''m asking whether there are any modearly to experienced programmers here who want to spend some time and start a project from a scratch.
I''m pretty decent programmer, Sun certified in java and I have none of that been programmer 9 years started when I was 9 stuff, but I''ve been programming pretty hardcore for two years now. You know how it goes. However, I won''t work with worthless slabs or newbies so that is off for now. I recently completed a small 3d engine with OpenGL, which is my preferred graphics API. I''ve done gl in c++ and java, but C++ is the tool for this project. Also I like to do platform intependent stuff so your preferance of platform don''t matter. I''ve done some os development on my own however I have very little experience of assembly. My C++ is reflects my strong background in Java, but it is all good since I take advatange of good features of C++.
Also I''ve been writing some articles on programming for finnish and swedish computer magazines and I have copies of them translated into english. I know I can program, so please if you are a retard who wants to steal my code then please do yourself a favour and kill yourself. Now. I have had this happen before. Also if you talk more than you code you are dismissed. I hope if you feel the same you can say bye to me.
Just to let you know. I don''t need anyone to work with, and it is plus if you are the same way, too. However, I''d like to hone my skills with some other people, too. I''m sorry if I came out as an arrogant person, but these boards have just too many newbies mmorpgers.
As for a project, I''m up for anything else except fps or rts. This leaves 3rd person shooters, which I have never done before.
If you can also speak engrish it is all good. I can do finnish as well, but my swedish sucks.
drop me a line to goatse@suicidesolutions.com if you are interested.
If you proofread your post and corrected all your mechanical errors, your assholesque attitude may come across more clearly. Because of your lack of interest in advertising a start-up with legible dialect, I don''t think any expert here will join you. Congratulations, you got what you wanted, did you not? I recall you saying you wanted to be lonesome.

You do know that you get banned here for that failled attempt, right?

leinad is an idiot ... can''t you see the man doesn''t speak english as his first langauge ... when you get on the internet, do not assume you are speaking to people from America, it just shows how stupid and pretential you are. Next your going to correct somebody for using the words "colour" and "organise" (english and autstralian correctly spelled words).
anyway, original poster, me and a friend would be interested if we weren''t knee deep in our own project ... good luck though
BTW - we are however developing an control library which works with OpenGL and is compatible with both Win32 API and SDL interface system ... so if you would like to help us out on that part of the project (what i mean is that we''d share our code library, and you could use, extend or ignore it if you want ... and we could avoid some code overlap ... however our controls first version will probably be ideally suited only to the menu portion of your game, as it is centered around being the interface for a turn based strategy game ... not an FPS/simulation) ...

You sound like a first person talking business. I'm using GLFW and OpenAL now, so I don't really need SDL/Win32 API. OpenAL is ok, but GLFW rocks. You can find stuff on it on google. I'm right now, trying to figure out what terrain would suit me the best. Heightmaps are powerful and easy to use, however they are kind of limited. No deformable terrain or anything. I actually tried that by transforming the indices, but it yielded with very odd results. For example my LOD funked it up, but I think it would be possible to have adaptive lod, which would then work greatly with the "adaptive" heightmaps.
I haven't really done any sounds or anything yet and I'm going to probably leave them last. However, menus sound great. If you can leave the abstractation of the menus on a level where I can apply my own glfw input while you have your way it would be sexellent. Menus(Main, in game, save and what not) I mean main menu and such, because in game I'll be using HUDs. Perhaps we can also work out some sort of hud together, since I'll be using 3rd person camera, which will be very similiar to fps camera. BTW are you doing 3d or 2d?
Really, drop me a line goatse@suicidesolutions.com or post here so I can contact you.

our current turn based stategy game is 2d, kindof ... we are using normal OpenGL with 3d abilities, but only putting objects on certain planes ... bascially you can think of it as a 3D shoe box, where we have the players game object at one level, and the background / starmap further away ... and plan to have the HUD in front ... so you get a paralax feel when you scrool the map ... but the game logic is all in 2d.
